Goodbye winter/early spring blahs! Bestival Toronto’s second year’s installation is but two months away (June 11-12, 2016)! The line up has been announced with headlining ICONS & festival giants THE CURE and Tame Impala, whose record has topped critical lists for the past year, leading the charge.
With a new home at Woodbine Park in Toronto’s leafy green and cozy beach area east of downtown (a move away from last year’s venue, Toronto Island) Bestival brings back the unique, UK style fancy-dress marvel full of creative & inventive design and decoration. Bestival’s formula is a simple yet rare genius: along with great music line ups including a mix of acts and dance & DJ tents to spare, Bestival makes for a festival-goers experience that is second to none, and sets this weekend apart from the usual local fare (and other by-the-book festivals). The Bollywood stage is the stuff of every photographers (and revellers) dream, the inflatable wedding church really happens and hosts impromptu weddings before crowds of new friends, the yarn bombing never fails to amuse, and the walk from stage to stage offers a laid back summer people watching experience that is about enjoying every moment inside the gates, with a minimum of hassle and lines and an open plan. Lots of little details (like ample seating and shaded areas for everyone and varied, interesting local food truck offerings) make a big difference here, as founder Rob da Bank brings the iconic and award winning festival back to lucky music festival fans in Toronto.
For those who do not love the Toronto Island / Ferry experience (always a challenge for all music festivals held on the island which has some limitations and restrictions, as beautiful as it is) you can now enjoy Bestival in a park setting minutes from the Bloor subway line in the heart of the city. We are excited to see how Woodbine Park will be set up and transformed as it no doubt will be for a few days. As indicated by last year’s performance, it promises to be a safe & happy, well organized weekend full of chill vibes and new memories.
Alongside two full days of music is the famous Bollywood, The Bestival Inflatable Church, Circus Troupes, Day of the Dead Cocktail Bus, Flashmob Takeovers, Costume Party & Parade, The Dressing Up Box, Yarn Bombing & more, promising you a wealth of Instagram gems and selfie backdrops for days.
Line ups and daily schedules are now out. Join the once a year wonderland of music and arts and celebrate our too short summer with Jamie XX, Odesza, Porter Robinson, Grimes, Daughter, Tchami, Dubfire, Art Department, The Twilight Sad, and Rob da Bank (and more!)
Visit Bestival Toronto’s Website to buy tickets and join the email list (and find their social media links). General and VIP tix are available for the weekend, as well as single day admission for either Saturday or Sunday.
