Kaytranada, Post Malone, Passion Pit, Sleigh Bells, The Soul Rebels featuring Talib Kweli, Yukon Blonde, Twin Peaks, BLAJK and many more diverse artists head up this year’s fast-approaching NXNE Music Festival.
The main festival will be staged at the Port Lands, which will be an all-ages outdoor space on Commissioner’s Street (site of last year’s outdoor shows) which promises to create more of a full-festival atmosphere with midway rides (FERRIS WHEEL!) abundant food offerings and midway games. This should make a nice change of pace from other festivals which are trending toward indoor club shows in some areas of music.
Last year that venue was nice and spacious, with a laid back feel that allowed fans to get up close & personal with the dynamic Mother Mother or hang back for convos or beer runs.
Another important logistical note – always one of Toronto’s summer weekend bugaboos- is that buses will be added to Port Lands from Pape Station and Union Station and free bike valet parking is offered, making flow more fun and the day more flexible for everyone no matter how you get around.
Food truck offerings cover all the right bases with tex-mex, locally sourced/organic, comfort food and seafood.
This year’s NXNE is also featuring a comedy tent programmed by The Comedy Bar (with Laugh Sabbath…)
It looks like the full schedule is still TBA, but with supporting gigs staged all over downtown Toronto, here’s just a few on our personal radar that we’ve heard about that we recommend:
NXNE runs for 10-days of music and conference offerings so take some time to preplan the widely varied schedule.
