The Top Tracks of 2015 as chosen by Yogi Shoegazer Duncan
RINGO-DEATHSTARR-12_-SLEEVE-Hi-Res
Ask any true music head to narrow down their list of favourites or bests and you risk causing a bit of turmoil as the list is both long and fortified over time. But one of the upsides of social media is that we tend to shorthand our favourites by sharing what we have on heavy rotation.  Through this, the first year of Step On Magazine, we’ve come to know some of the most dedicated, stoic, authentic music fans who support their bands as solidly as sport fans and who carry the flag throughout the years. Notable among these is Scotland’s DJ Yogi who has both deep roots in music and a stellar ear for the best and most authentic in Shoegaze (and genre-defying) music being made right now. (This is part of a feature that will be included in our special print edition going out in early 2016.)
Yogi took time out of his busy end of the year, highlights of which included a spot of DJing & attending some epic RIDE shows including the Glasgow and the Edinburgh gigs- the last of which marked the 25th anniversary of Nowhere. Here, Nowhere was played in its entirety-an outstanding gig that was a true contender for gig of a lifetime-one that could only be capped by a post gig chat & a beer with Andy Bell. This list came our way whilst Yogi was recently moving house with his family (who happily co-exist alongside his many crates of records and cds). During his rare downtime, we hear Yogi represents Shoegaze and music mates locally by regularly feeding his local’s juke for the good of the community.
Here’s the list (not ranked):
